Editor's note: The Garfield County Sheriff's Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.
Driving under the influence: At 11:09 p.m. on Oct. 5, deputies stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation in the 2500 mile of County Road 100 outside of Carbondale. Denise Marie Huffines, 53, of Basalt, was cited for suspicion of DUI.
Homemade explosive: At 8:53 p.m. on Oct. 6, a possible homemade explosive device was reported on the Coffee Pot Road side of the Flat Tops. The Grand Junction Police Department Bomb Squad responded, confirmed the device was a homemade explosive and neutralized the device. The case remains under investigation.
Gunfire: At 9:49 p.m. on Oct. 6, deputies investigated a report of shots fired in the 100 block of Mel Ray Road in Glenwood Springs.
Theft: At 9:35 a.m. on Oct. 7, deputies took a report of a stolen bicycle in the 800 block of W. Battlement Parkway in Parachute.
Theft: At 11:34 a.m. on Oct. 7, deputies were advised of a theft call where the suspects were transporting reported stolen property on I-70 through Garfield County. Deputies responded and investigated the incident. The case was turned over to Rio Blanco Sheriff's Office.
Burglary: At 11:57 a.m. on Oct. 7, deputies investigated a burglary in Parachute.
Theft: A deputy took a theft report at 12:29 p.m. on Oct. 8. A woman reported items had been stolen from her vehicle, but was unsure of the location of her vehicle when the items were taken.
Identity theft: At 3:11 p.m. on Oct. 9, deputies investigated a reported identity theft in the 3000 mile of County Road 114 in Glenwood Springs.
Vehicle break-in: At 4:19 p.m. on Oct. 9, deputies responded to a vehicle trespass in the 50600 block of Highway 6 in Glenwood Springs.
Trespass: At 6:17 p.m. on Oct. 10, deputies investigated a reported trespass in the 2300 mile of County Road 154 outside of Glenwood Springs.
Warrant arrest: At 9:35 a.m. on Oct. 12, deputies arrested Dylan Smith, 31, of Glenwood Springs on a $5,000 warrant from Garfield County in a burglary case. The arrest occurred in the 1000 block of Grand Ave. in Glenwood Springs.
Assault: Deputies responded to a call at 8:32 p.m. on Oct. 13 regarding an assault near the Boy Scout Trail near Glenwood Springs. Dennis Michael Dean, 47, of Glenwood Springs was cited for harassment.
Driving under the influence: Deputies contacted a motorist at Stone Quarry Road and Monument Trail in Battlement Mesa at 1:54 a.m. on Oct. 14. Nicole Theresa McCarthy, 26, of Parachute was cited on suspicion of driving under the influence, failure to drive in a single lane and driving with an expired license.
Driving under revocation: Deputies stopped a motorist at Seventh and Main in Carbondale at 8:57 a.m. on Oct. 14. Robert C. Streich, 60, of Carbondale was arrested on suspicion of driving with a revoked license and with an improperly attached vehicle license. He was booked at the county jail.
Underage drinking: Deputies responded to a noise complaint at 10:55 p.m. on Oct. 14 in the 100 block of Silverton Circle. Dusty Rose Losasso, 18, and Christopher Eugene McGruder, 18, both of Parachute, were cited for underage drinking.
Harassment: Deputies responded to a disturbance call from the 800 block of West Battlement Parkway in Battlement Mesa at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 16. Williamlee Adonis Golden, 18, of Battlement Mesa was arrested on suspicion of harassment for use of obscene language and criminal mischief, and booked at the county jail.
