Zoup! soups set to open next to REI in Grand Junction

Zoup! Fresh Soup Company is opening its first location in the Grand Junction area Thursday, Nov. 15.

The new restaurant will be located in the Chinle Plaza at Seventh and North (644 North Ave., suite 1) and is owned and operated by local Zoup! franchisees Terry and Joya Piland and their daughter, Lacie Piland.

As part of its grand opening celebration, Zoup! will host a pre-opening fundraising event Wednesday, Nov. 14, from 5-8 p.m. to benefit Hilltop's Senior Daybreak, a daycare program for seniors affected by dementia and Alzheimer's.

For a $5 donation, guests may enjoy a bowl of soup, a big hunk of bread and a fountain drink with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the organization.

Zoup! features hundreds of award-winning soup recipes with 12 rotating daily varieties, including low-fat, vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free options. Menu items include low-fat soups such as Veggie Waves of Grain, Old Fashion Chicken Noodle and Frontier 7 Bean; dairy-free soups like the Mulligatawny and Sesame Noodle Bowl; vegetarian soups, including Tomato Bisque and Spicy Italian Vegetable; and gluten-free options like Zesty 3 Pepper with Chicken and Ginger Butternut Squash. Customer favorites also include Chicken Pot Pie, Lobster Bisque and Vegetarian Split Pea.

Zoup also serves up fresh, made-to-order salads and grilled sandwiches.

The new restaurant will employ approximately 17 full- and part-time team members and will be open 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday; 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday; and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
