Chow Down Pet Supplies to open a new store in Montrose

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - West Slope pets and their owners are in for a treat. Chow Down Pet Supplies in the Redlands is expanding with a new store in Montrose. Services currently provided at Chow Down include high-quality pet supplies (food, toys and treats), plus grooming services.

Owners Krista and Tim Bush of Montrose and Kristi and Joe Bush in Grand Junction (yes, it's a family business!) plan for a soft opening at 202 Main St. in Montrose as early as next week. Chow Down in the Redlands will remain open at 2518 Broadway.

"Montrose is really trying to develop its Main Street area," Krista (Tim) Bush said. "We thought it would be a great location for us. People are driving from Ridgway, Ouray, even Telluride to our Grand Junction location, so we saw a need."

Though services and products at both stores will remain the same, a bigger retail space in Montrose could allow for some fun new training, teaching and playtime activities on site.

"We will have a cat room in Montrose, too," Krista Bush said.

Chow Down in GJ currently features a cozy cat room, where homeless felines rescued by C.L.A.W.S. (Cat's League and Assistance of the Western Slope) live until they find forever homes.

"We try to give back as much as we can to the community and to make cats and dogs healthy and happy," Krista Bush said. "We want to do the same in Montrose."

Reach Chow Down in the Redlands by calling 970-243-6200. The new number for the Montrose store is 970-249-5052.
