Chuck Dorn hit his first hole-in-one on Nov. 4. Swinging a 9-iron, Dorn aced the third hole at Lakota Canyon Ranch Golf Club. His 143-yard shot was witnessed by Syd Devine, among others.

Steve Williams sunk a hole-in-one at Glenwood Springs Golf Club on Thursday. Williams used a 7-wood to power his 160-yard shot, which fell on the third hole. Tom Williams, Ted Miernicki and Paul Nelson witnessed the ace.

Kick off your Thanksgiving holiday with the first annual Rifle Turkey Trot 5K, hosted by the Rifle High School cross country and track and field programs, at Deerfield Park on Thanksgiving morning. The race kicks off at 9 a.m. with a family-friendly course through the park.

Registration is $25 per person, or $70 for the entire family. Register online at www.active.com or beginning at 8 a.m. on race day. The registration includes a shirt as well as pre- and post-race refreshments. Prizes will be awards for the top male and female competitors, as well as for the best costumes.

Runners, joggers, walkers and non-runners are invited to sign up for the Turkey Trot 5K Fun Run.

This Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 22) will begin at the Glenwood Springs Community Center at 10 a.m. Test your running abilities on a fresh new course.

Prerace registration is under way at Independence Run and Hike in Carbondale. The Glenwood Springs High School boys and girls swim teams, along with the Sopris Barracudas, will be pre-selling race entries as well starting Nov. 7. Prerace registration will be $7.

Race-day registration will be $10 and begin at 9 a.m. inside the community center.
