The fifth annual Antlers Lane Schoolhouse Holiday Craft Sale will take place from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, on Antlers Lane off Highway 6 west of Silt. The sale features 19 vendors this year, with pottery, jewelry, birdhouses, barnwood furniture, the Gypsy Chix funky finds and Poetic Chaos art by Kelley Cox. Be sure to come hungry and get a bowl of homemade chili.
The New Castle Lions will host the annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Nov.17, at the New Castle Community Center, 423 W. Main. The Lions will provide roast turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, sweet potatoes, several varieties of dressing and beverages. Guests are invited to bring a side dish or dessert. Pack shoe boxes with gifts such as small toys, personal care items, stickers, school supplies and hard candy to be distributed to children in more than 100 countries who are suffering from natural disaster, war, terrorism, disease, famine or poverty.
In 2011, the Roaring Fork Valley contributed more than 1,000 shoe boxes. This year, hope to collect 1,250 shoe boxes from area families, kids, churches, schools and civic organizations by Sunday, Nov. 18.

Visit the Holiday Bazaar at the Elks Lodge in West Glenwood from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 1. A huge variety of home crafted items available for Christmas presents along with baked goods, soup and drink. Get a photo with Santa just in time for your holiday cards. Proceeds from the Elks sales will go to YouthZone.
