Kannah Creek to host its first ever beer class in Grand Junction

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Love beer, but don't know much about it?

Then take Kannah Creek Brewing Company's first-ever fun, little beer class Sunday, Nov. 18, at 2 p.m.

The two-hour, group course - "Beer History 101" - will be held at the brew pub (1960 N. 12th St.) and interested folks should pre-register, first come first serve, at Kannah Creek's 12th Street location. The cost is $16, and the class will accommodate 20 students.

"It will be taught by one of our brewers," Kannah Creek co-owner Eric Ross said. "It will include a brief history of beer and we'll talk a little bit about the brewing process. We'll also discuss different beer styles, and students will taste 4-ounce samples of each of our seven main beers, plus one seasonal. After that, they get to pick a pint of any beer to enjoy."

"We will taste each of the samples together and talk about each one," Kannah Creek brewer Emma Faulkner added.

Ross said Kannah Creek brewers will likely teach a "beer 101" class on the third Sunday of every month, but public interest must be gauged to determine the longevity of the course.

"The goal is to do a class once a month and explore specific beer styles in depth and even beer/food pairings," Faulkner noted.
