Glenwood Springs Community Center has announced Brittney Glock as Instructor of the Month for December. Glock is an experienced multi-sport athlete and coach who walks the walk when it comes to fitness. With her experience in everything from yoga and boxing to soccer and distance running, she keeps training fresh and motivating. Common side effects of her workouts include dramatic results and a burning desire to keep at it. The mother of three is an ISSA Certified Personal Trainer as well as an AFFA Certified Aerobics Instructor.
Aspen Valley Foods is a new Colorado-based online company offering healthy, natural, organic and sustainably produced foods sourced from family-owned ranches, farms, dairies, bakeries, vineyards and food artisans in the U.S.Initially, the site will offer more than 400 food products from 16 food categories, with an emphasis on smaller, Colorado-based producers. The Carbondale Council on Arts & Humanities (CCAH) was voted nonprofit of the year by the Carbondale Chamber of Commerce membership.CCAH has been building community through art for more than 38 years. New Castle Family Fitness member Carole O'Brien is an inspiration to anyone who wanting to live healthier. O'Brien is the manager of the Book Train in Glenwood Springs. Since she decided to get serious about fitness, she has seen results. "It's just a matter of priorities," O'Brien said. "I want to stay healthy into my later years. My husband, Kevin, has been a positive influence, too." O'Brien works out four days per week for about an hour. She has worked with a personal trainer occasionally and participated in programs when she needs a kick. "Doctor bills and health insurance are a whole lot more expensive than my health club membership and not nearly as fun," she said.O'Brien is making much better food choices but still enjoys eating her favorite things. "Relationships with friends and neighbors at the gym make it much easier to stick with it."O'Brien has lost 40 pounds and dropped four sizes in the past year and a half.

The Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park management team traveled to California in November for a team-building trip and as a reward for a successful year. The team met with executives at some of the world's top theme parks: Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farms, Magic Mountain and Disney California Adventure, including the new Cars Land. They spent two days with Disney executives, learning about guest services, safety, quality audits, hiring and training. After taking rare behind-the-scenes tours, experiencing the rides and attractions, and having in-depth discussions about the parks' operations and best practices, they brought back lots of ideas to enhance the customer experience here in Glenwood Springs.
