Thursday, Jan. 3, is the last chance to pre-register for the Sunlight Winter Sports Club's Buddy Werner program.

From 4-6 p.m. at the U.S. Bank community room (1901 Grand Ave., Glenwood Springs), you can register your racer for the youth ski team and pick up their racing bib. This is a chance to avoid the lines and craziness of opening morning on Saturday, Jan. 5.

Coaches are meeting on Sunday, Dec. 16, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and will be skiing, snow permitting, in preparation for the season.

Buddy Werner program primer: This program is for youngsters 6 to 12 years old who are recreational skiers and want a basic exposure to alpine ski racing competition. Racers gather at Sunlight Mountain from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. each Saturday beginning on the first non-holiday weekend in January. Adult volunteer coaches run the show.
