Readers Say Thanks

I would like to take this moment to thank all the people who helped make the 27th annual Sports Sale for the Mount Sopris Nordic Council such a success. First of all, I would like to extend a big thank you to Colorado Rocky Mountain School, which graciously provided its gym for two full days at no cost. Thanks also to the commercial vendors who come year after year with their clothing and equipment. These vendors were Independence Run & Hike, Vagneur Sports, Scott Riley, Summit Canyon Mountaineering and Polly Tucker of Swix. Another big thank you goes out to Nelson Oldham and Dos Gringos Burritos who kept our volunteers fueled with java, pastries and food. I bow in gratitude to all the wonderful volunteers who helped with various aspects of the event. Thank you for taking time out from your busy lives to help out on Friday and Saturday. We are blessed to be a part of a community filled with the volunteer spirit. Lastly, thanks to all of those who showed up at the sale and once again and made this a true community event.Wish for snow, and I hope to see you at Spring Gulch this winter.Berit Bjerke-Daniels, PresidentMount Sopris Nordic Council Carbondale

My name is Adam Rice and I was the quarterback of the Rifle Bears football team this year. I am writing this letter to say thank you to the many people who supported the Rifle Bears football team. First, thank you to all the football moms. Thank you for all the behind-the-scenes work: all the decorating, all the team dinners and all the laundry. Next, thank you to all the coaches. Thank you for preparing each and every week, for all the obsessive hours spent over the weekends. Our success this season would not have happened without you. Thirdly, thanks to the transportation people up at the bus barn. Thank you for donating a second bus for these last two playoff games. The extra leg room and extra teammates were greatly appreciated. Penultimately, thank you to the city of Rifle and the Rifle High School students for all the support this season. All the people coming to the games made it a lot of fun to play. The send off before the state game is something we will remember for the rest of our lives. It has truly been a blessing to play for you. And lastly, thank you to my teammates. Thank you for the early mornings and late nights. Thank you for the practices at Mesa when it was 100 degrees and at home when it was 10 degrees. These last four years together I wouldn't trade for anything. Thanks for always staying Rifle Tough. It's been a great ride. Adam RiceRifle
