The New Castle Recreation Department is offering a new tiny tots fitness program in early January for children ages 1-4.
The "Trompin' Tots Spring Into Action" program will be held Wednesdays from 9-10 a.m., Jan. 7 through March 11, at the New Castle Community Center. The fee is $99 for 10 classes, and registration is available by phone at 984-3352, or online at www.newcastlerec. com.
For volleyball enthusiasts, the popular mixed quads league will be offered on Tuesday evenings for both recreational and competitive teams. Teams are required to have at least one woman on the court at all times, and this league is self-officiated. League play begins Jan. 15, and the fee is $120 per team.
The Winter Blast Quads Tournament will be held Saturday, Feb. 9, and teams can be all men, women or coed. The registration fee is $80 per team by Feb. 4, and $100 after that date.
• Hoops Mania and a 4 on 4 adult basketball league is also offered this winter for ages 16 and up.
Hoops Mania, a mini-tournament that will include different game formats, is the perfect opportunity to get your team organized for the league. It will be held on Thursday, Jan. 17, from 6:45-9 p.m. at Riverside Middle School. The fee is $10 per player, and registration is due no later than Jan. 14.
The 4 on 4 League begins Jan. 24 and will be held Thursdays between 7-9 p.m. The fee is $100 per team in this self-officiated program.

• Snow lovers are encouraged to attend an inaugural meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 5:30 p.m. at the community center to introduce snow enthusiasts to other people with similar interests, and possibly put together some group trips this winter. Register on the www.newcastlerec.com website under NCR Interest Groups, or come to the meeting.
New Slapshot Floor Hockey and Lil' Kickers Futsal programs for children ages 5-8 begin in mid-January.
These six-week coed programs include weekly practices and scrimmage games, with the focus on teaching basic hockey or soccer skills.
The floor hockey program will be held Thursdays from 5-6 p.m. from Jan. 17 through Feb. 21. No equipment needed, as the Colorado Avalanche donated the sticks, pucks and goals.
The Futsal program will be held Tuesdays from 5-6 p.m. from Jan. 15 through Feb. 19. The fees are $40 for each program, and registration is available by phone at 984-3352, or online at www.newcastlerec.com.
