Girl Scout Troop 2143 spread holiday cheer at the Grace Nursing home in Glenwood Springs. This is the troop's third year visiting the residents. The girls' handmade decorations were passed out to the residents and used to decorate the residents' tree. They love entertaining the residents with all the holiday songs they sing during their visit.

Emily McDonald and Edward Maurice Bowen III have announced their engagement.Emily grew up in Glenwood Springs and attended CRMS before majoring in geology at Middlebury College and is currently working toward a Master's of Public Health with a concentration in epidemiology at Indiana University. Her parents are Kae McDonald of Carbondale and Ken McDonald of Glenwood Springs.Edward grew up in Front Royal, Va., and has a PhD from Indiana University. He plans to teach Italian cinema and literature. They met in Vermont in 2011.His parents are Maurice and Sandra Bowen of Front Royal, Va., and Leesburg, Va.

Glenwood Springs Elementary students learned to give back to their community by collecting 1,141 cans or boxes of food for LIFT-UP this holiday season. For two weeks they brought in cans or boxes to their homeroom. Michelle McReynolds' first-grade class raised 114 items.
