Alice (Peggy) A. Castle-Burns graduated to Glory Jan. 11, 2013, at her home in The Commons, Grand Junction.Peggy was born Sept. 4, 1921, to Robert E. Ashcroft and Musa Winifred (Winnie) Sage in Nucla, CO. She spent her childhood years in the Appleton area.Peggy married Walter E. Castle Nov. 24, 1936. Born from this union were four daughters, Glenda Charlesworth of Grand Junction; Rita (Garland) Latham of Montrose; Dana (Ron) Smith of Glade Park; and Sheila (Jerry) Rew of Silt, who survive.Peggy working by Walt's side ran multiple cattle ranches in several counties. She was a great cook feeding large numbers of people depending on the day and who all was involved in the activities of that day. After Walt's death, Peggy married Wirt Burns.Peggy was a Godly woman who lived the life, walked the walk and talked the talk!She led many people to Christ. She also taught Bible class for many years in several churches depending on her residency. She spoke often in her later years with excitement and expectancy of leaving this life to be with Jesus and her loved ones who have gone on before her. She got her wish Friday!!She is survived by her grandchildren: Howard, Troy, Greg, Traci, Rhona, Randy, Jeremy, Sharalee and Josh; and great-grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren; and a host of friends. The Burns family including Claudia, Ivan/Polly Green, nieces and nephews also survive.Peggy was preceded in death by her father, mother, husbands and son-in-law, Frank Charlesworth.Viewing will be held noon -1 p.m. with a memorial celebration of Peggy's life at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19 at Victory Life Church, 2066 US Hwy 6 & 50, Fruita, CO. Graveside services will follow immediately.In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado, 3090B N. 12th Street, Grand Junction, Colorado 81506 and/or The Commons, 625 27 1/2 Road Grand Junction, CO 81506.
