The Owl Creek Chase, a 21k cross country ski race from Snowmass to Aspen, will be held on Sunday, Feb. 10, at 11 a.m. Elite athletes from around the country make their way to Aspen to participate in Colorado's premier cross-country ski race. Part of the Aspen Nordic Festival, the Owl Creek Chase features tough climbs, scenic views, thrilling descents and excellent snow conditions. America's Uphill on will be held on Saturday, March 16 at 7 a.m. on Aspen Mountain. Participants are stretched to their athletic limits on this sensory stimulating course. With a combination of steep inclines and mellow plateaus, the race to the finish is always exciting and demanding. Attracting hundreds of racers each year, the race brings together snowshoers, Nordic skiers, telemark skiers, and Randonee skiers for a 2.5 mile trek up Aspen Mountain. The America's Uphill begins at the base of Little Nell and climbs 3,267 feet up the Aspen Mountain ski area finishing at the Sundeck Restaurant at an elevation of 11,212 feet. The fourth annual Redstone 5k Snowshoe Race/Walk is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 2. Registration starts at 9 a.m. at the Church of Redstone with the race starting at 10 a.m. at the Redstone Inn. Cost is $20 adults and $10 children, with monies to benefit Redstone Community Association and HomeCare and Hospice of the Valley.
