The Delta Panthers remained undefeated in 4A Western Slope League play with a close 49-44 win at home against Rifle. Trailing 23-22 at the half, Delta took control early in the third quarter and built a 32-28 lead. Rifle fought back but could never retake the lead. Skylyn Webb led all scorers with 27 points for the Panthers. Chante Church paced Rifle with 25 points while Joey Kuheim added 11 points for the Bears. Delta improved to 7-0 in league play and 9-3 overall, while Rifle dropped to 5-3 and 7-5.
The Bears earned a 42-41 victory at Delta in a defensive battle on Friday night. After trailing for three quarters, the Panthers rallied and tied the game in the fourth quarter, but the Bears came up with several big stops to secure the victory. "We played really well defensively," said Rifle coach Roger Walters. "Tonight our guys made some good decisions." Junior Tanner Quick led the Bears with 14 points.
The Lady Rams won a tight contest at Cedaredge, 38-35, on Friday night. Shaeley Lough paced Roaring Fork with 16 points, including several clutch fourth-quarter baskets as the team improved to 7-2 in league play and 7-5 overall. Cedaredge fell to 3-5 and 4-7.
Dakotah Grett scored 23 points to go with another solid defensive team effort as the first-place Rams (9-0, 10-2) remained undefeated in 3A league play, topping Cedaredge, 55-45. Cedaredge saw its record drop to 4-4 and 6-5 overall.
Moffat County came out hot and never looked back in a big road win at Coal Ridge, 77-64. The Bulldogs (7-1, 10-1) jumped ahead 21-6 in the first quarter behind a balanced offense and constant pressure defense and led 48-19 at the half. Titans junior Alec Herrera led all scorers with 23 points as Coal Ridge is now 1-8 in league play and 1-11 overall.
