Editor's note: The Garfield County Sheriff's Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.
Drunk driving: At 1:46 a.m. on Jan. 20 deputies stopped a vehicle for weaving on Highway 82 near Carbondale. Roberto Meza-Garcia, 55, of Carbondale, was booked into the Garfield County Jail on charges of weaving on the highway and drunk driving.
Driving without a license: At 11:02 p.m. on Jan. 20, deputies stopped a vehicle for failing to obey a stop sign outside of Carbondale. Manuel Jose Calel-Leom, 28, no address given, was summoned into court on charges that included failing to provide proof of insurance and driving a vehicle without a license.
Expired plates: At 11:18 p.m. on Jan. 21, deputies stopped a vehicle on Battlement Parkway in Battlement Mesa for having expired license plates. The occupants, Seth D. Klinder and Jason D. Shaver, Jr., both of Parachute, were issued summons into court for possession of drug paraphernalia (Klinder) and driving with expired plates, (Shaver).
Just helping out: At 59 minutes past midnight on Jan. 22, deputies stopped to assist a motorist at Fravert Reservoir near Rifle. After an investigation, Tyler S. Liles, 19, Rifle, was summoned into court for underage drinking and driving with expired plates, and Jeremiah J. Klein, 19, Rifle, was summoned into court for underage drinking.
