Memories & Milestones

Pablo Gorra of Glenwood Springs High School beat out all the competition in the state for first alto in the All State Jazz Band and joined the pilgrimage to the Colorado Music Educator's Association Conference in Colorado Springs. The best of the best student musicians and pros gather together to share their love of music, lessons learned and evaluate their teaching and practice. Pablo spent three days rehearsing with Dr. Sean Flanigan of Mesa State University. He then performed with the 17 other jazz musicians that made the cut in front of a packed Broadmoor Hall. Trent Johnson, GSHS alumni 2011, performed with CMU's Jazz Ensemble with Sarah Wagner, GSHS Percussion Ensemble assistant coach. Tami Suby, Glenwood Springs middle and high schools band director, attended the conference and has worked with all three extensively.

Jasmine Van't Hoff, 19, of Glenwood Springs, won her third X Games Navy pull-up competition this weekend with 11 pull-ups, winning another snowboard. Congratulations, Jasmine!
