DUI: Police responded to a hit and run accident in the area of Railroad Avenue and Centennial Parkway on Jan. 15 at 4:51 p.m. Colorado State Patrol troopers later contacted the suspect vehicle and police then contacted Efrain Luna-Carranza, 23, of Rifle, who was driving the suspect vehicle. Luna-Carranza was arrested on suspicion of DUI, DUI Per Se, lack of compulsory insurance, reckless driving, accidents involving damage and duty to report an accident, and was taken to jail.Theft: On Jan. 15 at 7:39 p.m., police received a report of theft of items from a vehicle in a parking lot in the 700 block of Taughenbaugh Boulevard. Theft: Police responded to a call of a criminal trespass/theft in the 100 block of East Third Street on Jan. 17 at 1:22 p.m. An unknown suspect entered a vehicle and took several items. DUI: Police contacted Thomas Fritz, 51, of Rifle, during an investigation of a REDDI report in the 1300 block of Railroad Avenue on Jan. 17 at 5:45 p.m. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI, DUI per se and driving with a revoked license as a habitual traffic offender. He was later transported to Garfield County Jail. DUI: Officers contacted a vehicle in the 100 block of East 16th Street on Jan. 18 at 7 p.m. for a traffic violation. David W. Martin, 39, of New Castle, was arrested on suspicion of DUI, failure to provide proof of insurance, open container and speeding. Martin was taken to jail.Assault: On Jan. 18 at 7:59 p.m., police received a report of a possible assault that occurred on an earlier date in the 1300 block of Howard Avenue. The case is under investigation. Domestic violence: Officers responded to the 1800 block of Railroad Avenue on Jan. 18 at 10:29 p.m. for a report of a domestic disturbance. Ramon A. Avendano, 40, of Rifle, was arrested on suspicion of harassment and domestic violence. He was taken to jail.Theft: On Jan. 19 at 1:27 p.m., officers received a report of shoplifting from a business in the 1300 block of Railroad Avenue. A 13-year-old boy from Rifle was issued a summons and released to a parent. Domestic violence: Police responded to a domestic disturbance in the 300 block of East Fourth Street on Jan. 20 at 4:55 p.m. Richard John Koucherik, 49, of Parachute, was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence, harassment, and criminal mischief for allegedly breaking items at the victim's and adjoining residences. Warrant arrest: On Jan. 21 at 1:13 p.m., police made a traffic stop on I-70 near mile marker 91 for an equipment violation. Officers learned that a passenger, Deidra Brown, 26, had an active arrest warrant. She was arrested and taken to jail.Assault and battery: Police are investigating a report of an assault that occurred in the 200 block of East 16th Street among elementary and middle school students on Jan. 21 at 5:23 p.m.Underage drinking: Deputies responded to a motorist assist at Fravert Reservoir outside Rifle on Jan. 22 at 12:59 a.m. After further investigation, Tyler Steven Liles, 19, of Rifle, was issued a summons for underage possession of alcohol and having expired license plates, and Jeremiah Joseph Klein, 19, of Rifle, was issued a summons for underage possession of alcohol.Trespass: On Jan. 22 at 12:31 a.m., police received a report that items had been stolen from a vehicle in the 1500 block of Railroad Avenue. The case is under investigation. Fight: Deputies responded to a report of a report of a fight that happened in the 300 block of Sipprelle Drive in Battlement Mesa on Jan. 23 at 5:56 p.m. The case is under investigation.DUI: During a traffic stop near County Road 214 and Sunrise Court outside Silt on Jan. 23 at 9:53 p.m., the driver, Jesse Townsend Jr., 47, of Silt, was arrested on suspicion of DUI and failing to drive in a single lane. He was taken to jail.ID theft: On Jan. 24 at 1:40 p.m., deputies took a report of an identity theft on Mustang Mesa Trail outside Rifle.False license plates: Deputies contacted a vehicle mile marker 72 in the eastbound lanes of I-70 near Parachute on Jan. 24 at 6:17 a.m. for a traffic violation. The driver, Jessica Alice Haralson, 48, of Glenwood Springs, was issued a summons for speeding and having a false or stolen license plate. She was released at the scene and the vehicle was towed.Dog at large: On Jan. 24 at 8:19 a.m., deputies responded to an animal complaint on River Frontage Road outside New Castle. Stephano Rocco, 55, was cited for dog at large and no dog license.Domestic violence: Deputies learned of a possible restraining order violation on County Road 225 outside Rifle on Jan. 24 at 8:31 a.m. Jason Ray Dominguez, 28, of Rifle, was arrested on suspicion of violation of a restraining order and possession of suspected drug paraphernalia. He was taken to jail.Harassment: Deputies learned of a domestic disturbance in the 1300 block of Railroad Avenue on Jan. 25 at 7:08 a.m. Robert Walter Nivens Jr., 44, of Rock Hills, S.C., was arrested on suspicion of harassment and obstruction of phone services. He was taken to jail.Domestic violence: On Jan. 25 at 1:32 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a domestic violence incident on Sipprelle Drive in Battlement Mesa. Jose Guadalupe Hernandez, 36, of Parachute, was arrested on suspicion of harassment, domestic violence and stalking and was taken to jail.Burglary tools: Deputies contacted Dennis Eugene Garrett II, 34, of Rifle, as he was walking in the 1700 block of Railroad Avenue on Jan. 26 at 8:02 a.m. He was arrested on suspicion of possession of burglary tools and was taken to jail.Meth arrests: Deputies stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation at mile marker 94 in the eastbound lanes of I-70 outside Rifle on Jan. 26 at 8:09 a.m. Arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine with the intent to sell and other charges was Pablo Rene Avalos, 60, of Rock Granada Hills, Calif., Ruben Dario Gonzalez-Peva, 29, of Pomono, Calif., and Alexis Montoya-Cazares, 19, of Pomona, Calif. All there were taken to jail.Fight: Deputies responded to a fight at Coal Ridge High School, 35947 U.S. Highway 6 east of Silt, on Jan. 29 at 4:15 p.m. Two juveniles, ages 15 and 16, were cited for disorderly conduct and released to their parents.Stolen license plate: On Jan. 31 at 8:11 a.m., a deputy took a report of a license plate theft on Silverton Circle in Battlement Mesa.Harassment: Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance on Willow View Way on Jan. 31 at 12:27 a.m. After further investigation, Christopher Robyn Schaefermeyer, 33, of Parachute, was arrested on suspicion of harassment and taken to jail.Fraud: On Feb. 1 at 11:56 a.m., deputies took a report of a fraud incident on Eagle Rock Place in Battlement Mesa. This case is closed pending further leads.Warrant arrest: Deputies contacted Miguel Angel Moya-Medina, 43, of Rifle, in the 700 block of West Second Street on Feb. 1 at 11:57 a.m. Moya-Medina had two arrest warrants and was taken to jail.Warrant arrest: On Feb. 1 at 6:07 p.m., deputies contacted a vehicle in the 700 block of Taughenbaugh Boulevard for expired license plates. Deputies learned the driver, Billy Glen Price, 50, of Rifle, had two warrants for his arrest. He was taken to jail.Domestic violence: Deputies responded to a call on County Road 335 outside New Castle on Feb. 2 at 8:10 a.m. After further investigation, Wally Brent Wareham, 45, and Telulah Alana Patten, 44, were arrested on suspicion of harassment and domestic violence and were taken to jail.Warrant arrest: Deputies contacted William Bradley Payne, 44, in the 300 block of Columbine Drive, near Rifle, on Feb. 3 at 10:07 p.m. He had an arrest warrant for failure to pay a fine and was arrested and taken to jail.Driving under restraint: Deputies conducted a traffic stop near Stone Quarry Road and Monument Trail in Battlement Mesa on Feb. 3 at 10:59 p.m. After investigation, Stephanie Renee Zavala, 27, of Parachute, was arrested on suspicion of driving while her license was under restraint and having a defective turn signal. She was taken to jail.Warrant arrest: On Feb. 4 at 1:14 p.m., deputies contacted Russell James Lashus, 44, of Battlement Mesa, in the 300 block of Tamarisk Trail in Battlement Mesa. He was found to have an arrest warrant and was allegedly in violation of a protection order. Lashus was arrested and taken to jail.
