LETTER: Obama has 'bludgeoned" the Constitution

Bludgeoning. An accurate description of what's happening to the Constitution courtesy of the president. To count all the times he's violated it in his first term would be difficult, but a few blatant ones jump to mind.Topping the list would have to be the individual mandate requiring citizens to purchase health insurance or pay a penalty. Regardless of the Supreme Court ruling, most believe it to be unconstitutional. Next is the "Fast & Furious" fiasco, with subsequent border agent killing and non-disclosure hiding behind executive privilege. Then there's the infamous auto industry bail out with union favoritism and stockholder mistreatment. Let's not forget the millions wasted on stimulus schemes that didn't work and the millions more squandered on green energy companies heading for bankruptcy. And how about the deep water drilling ban in the Gulf after the BP oil spill? Wasn't the order to the IRS to tax political contributions an attempt to muzzle political speech? We also have the FDA telling cigarette companies they must provide graphic warnings on packaging. It looks a lot like government ordering companies to discourage customers from buying lawful products. Hey, here's another one. Certain companies are being allowed to opt out of ObamaCare. Wonder who they are? They just happen to be friends of the president's closest contributors and supporters. All the times the justice department has been ordered not to enforce laws on the books isn't included here either. But, as Hillary said recently: "What difference does that make now?" If Congress doesn't care, why should we?Al CarleyGrand Junction
