Encana Oil and Gas is offering scholarships to 2012-13 high school seniors to the tune of up to $10,000.
According to a press release from the company, the scholarships, worth $2,500 per year for up to four years, are available to one senior at each high school in Rifle, New Castle, Parachute, Rangely, Fruita, Palisade, Meeker, DeBeque and Grand Junction.
To be eligible, high school seniors must have proof of acceptance and registration at a four-year university or technical/trade program and declare an energy-related field of study in petroleum, chemical, mechanical or environmental engineering, geology or geophysics. Applicants must have a solid academic record and be active in their community.

The deadline for online applications in Mar. 16. Encana will conduct interviews with applicants and winners will be announced in early April.
