Rifle Police & Garfield County Sheriff's Departments Cop Shop Report - Feb. 14, 2013

Theft: On Jan. 22 at 12:31 a.m., officers received a report that a purse was stolen from a vehicle parked in the 1500 block of Railroad Avenue. Pot: On Jan. 23 at 1:42 p.m., police were alerted to a 16-year-old boy at Rifle High School who was under the influence of marijuana. Following investigation, the juvenile was summonsed for suspicion of possession of marijuana. Shoplifting: Police responded to a report of a juvenile shoplifter at City Market, 1320 Railroad Ave., on Jan. 24 at 7:32 a.m. A 14-year-old boy from Rifle had allegedly concealed items and attempted to leave the store without paying. The juvenile was issued a summons for theft and released to his parent. Warrant arrest: Police were aware of an active arrest warrant for Randall L. Jones, 39, of Rifle. On Jan. 24 at 1:15 p.m., Jones was found at a residence in the 2400 block of Rail Avenue and was arrested and taken to jail.Gas theft: Officers received a report that a customer failed to pay for approximately $35 of fuel at a convenience store in the 1200 block of Railroad Avenue on Jan. 24 at 1:34 p.m.Driving under revocation: Officers responded to the Rifle rest area on Jan. 25 at 5:45 a.m. for a suspicious man attempting to enter a parked tractor trailer. Upon arrival, officers located Paul Arlen Price, 35, of Canonburg, Penn., who was arrested and later released on a summons for driving under revocation and compulsory insurance. Warrant arrest: Officers contacted Sergio Sanchez Jr., 23, of Rifle, near East Ninth Street and East Avenue on Jan. 25 at 5:54 p.m. for suspicion of having active warrants. He was arrested on two outstanding felony warrants and was taken to jail.Warrant arrest: Officers learned that Travis Michael Misek, 24, of Rifle, was at a residence in the 100 block of June Avenue on Jan. 25 at 11:55 p.m. and had an active warrant. Misek was arrested and taken to jail.Shoplifting: Police received a report of a theft from a business in the 400 block of West Second Street on Jan. 28 at 2:23 p.m. A suspect has been identified and a warrant has been issued.Menacing: Police responded to a report of a family disturbance in the 300 block of East Second Street on Jan. 28 at 9:33 p.m. After investigation, a 15-year-old boy from Rifle was arrested on suspicion of menacing. He was later released to a family member. Trespassing: On Jan. 28 at 11:46 p.m., police investigated a trespass that occurred at the Garfield County Fairgrounds, 1001 Railroad Ave. Kevin Jonathan Buechler, 21, of Rifle, was later arrested on suspicion of trespass and was released from Rifle Police Department. Theft: Police responded to the 1000 block of Railroad Avenue on Jan. 29 at 9:48 a.m. in reference to a burglary. Officers found that someone entered the business and stole items, including legal documents. The case is under investigation.Assault and battery: Police are investigating a reported disturbance that occurred in the 200 block of East Third Street on Jan. 29 at 5:38 p.m.Identity theft: On Jan. 29 at 5:38 p.m., police took a report of a possible identify theft in the 400 block of East Fifth Street. The case is under investigation.Theft: Police investigated a report of stolen electronics from a residence in the 1000 block of West 24th Street on Jan. 29 at 8:51 p.m.Fight: Police responded to the 2600 block of Acacia Avenue for a report of a fight in progress on Jan. 30 at 4:38 p.m. Officers contacted two of the three parties involved in the fight. The third party has been identified. The case is under investigation.Warrant arrest: Brandie Lynn Smith, 24, of Rifle, was contacted by police for a traffic violation in the 200 block of East 30th Street on Jan. 31 at 8:42 p.m. She was arrested on a Rifle municipal warrant. Theft: On Jan. 31 at 9:31 p.m., officers received a report of a theft of items from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 800 block of Railroad Avenue. The case is under investigation.Driving violation: Police contacted Bryon Lee Galliher, 28, of Rifle, for a traffic violation in the 300 block of East Fourth Street on Feb. 1 at 2:29 a.m. Galliher was arrested on suspicion of driving under revocation. He was released from the Rifle Police Department with a summons.Theft: Police responded to the 100 block of Willow Circle on Feb. 1 at 6:21 p.m. for a report of burglary. The case is under investigation.Shoplifting: Officers took a report of a shoplifter at City Market, 1320 Railroad Ave., on Feb. 2 at 1:29 p.m. Lori Ann Brown, 56, of Rifle, was released with a summons for theft. Burglary: On Feb. 3 at 12:40 p.m., officers took a report of burglary and theft in the 2400 block of Rail Avenue. The case is inactive pending further leads.Gas theft: On Feb. 4 at 8:17 a.m., police received a report of theft in which a corporate fuel card was fraudulently used in the 700 block of Buckhorn Drive. The case is under investigation.Theft: On Feb. 4 at 11:17 a.m., officers received a report that electronic items were stolen from a business in the 1300 block of Railroad Avenue. The items were later recovered and a warrant is being sought for the known suspect.Graffiti: Officers took a report of criminal mischief in the 300 block of East 30th Street on Feb. 4 at 12:01 p.m. Structures were damaged with graffiti. Theft: On Feb. 4 at 2:01 p.m., police received a report that items were stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 1500 block of Railroad Avenue.Warrant arrest: Police contacted Samantha Jo Elise Cooper, 19, of Rifle, in the 200 block of East 18th Street on Feb. 4 at 4:03 p.m. She had two active warrants for her arrest and was taken to jail.Theft: Police received a report of check fraud at Walmart, 1000 Airport Road, on Feb. 5 at 9:45 a.m. The case is under investigation.Theft: Police are investigating a theft of items taken from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 200 block of West Second Street on Feb. 5 at 4:04 p.m.Theft: On Feb. 5 at 8:40 p.m., officers took a report of theft from a residence in the 2400 block of West Avenue. A suspect has been identified and the case is under investigation. Theft: On Feb. 5 at 2:47 p.m., deputies learned of a theft that occurred on U.S. Highway 6 outside Silt. A 16-year-old juvenile suspect from New Castle was issued a summons.Burglary: Deputies responded to a reported burglary in the 200 block of Cedar Hills Road outside Silt on Feb. 6 at 9:15 p.m. The case is closed pending further leads.DUI: After a traffic stop, police contacted Ray Carlos Marques, 48, of Palisade, in the area of West Fourth Street and West Avenue on Feb. 6 at 1:16 a.m. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI, DUI per se, and driving under revocation and taken to jail.Warrant arrest: Officers recognized Yvonne Michelle Warren, 38, of Glenwood Springs, walking in the 300 block of East Third Street on Feb. 6 at 11:54 a.m. and knew she had an active warrant. Warren was arrested and taken to jail.Theft: Officers took a report of theft from a vehicle while it was parked 100 block of East Third Street on Feb. 6 at 7:52 p.m.DUI: Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance in the 400 block of West 16th Street of Rifle on Feb. 7 at 8:33 p.m. After investigation, Robert Sean Campbell, 25, of Silt, was arrested on suspicion of DUI, third degree assault and domestic violence. He was taken to jail.DUI: Officers contacted a vehicle for traffic violations in the 200 block of White River Avenue on Feb. 7 at 2:11 a.m. and arrested the driver, Khory Nathen Gagner, 23, of Carbondale, for suspicion of DUI and reckless driving. He was taken to jail.Warrant arrest: During a traffic stop in the 200 block of White River Avenue on Feb. 7 at 2:33 a.m., police contacted Alexander Lewis Guenther, 21, of Carbondale, who had an active warrant. Guenther was arrested and taken to jail.Theft: Police are investigating a theft from a business in the 800 block of Airport Road on Feb. 7 at 9:15 a.m.DUI: Officers contacted a vehicle in the 700 block of White River Avenue on Feb. 7 at 9:28 p.m. for traffic violations. The driver, Monica Babcock, 34, of Rifle, was arrested on suspicion of DUI and speeding. She was released with a summons. Shots fired: Police responded to the 600 block of West 24th Street for a report of a disturbance and shots fired on Feb. 7 at 11:07 p.m. Steve Pressler, 21, of rifle, was arrested on suspicion of reckless endangerment and prohibited use of weapons and was taken to jail. No injuries were reported.Vandalism, trespass: On Feb. 8, deputies took reports of vandalism, trespass and damage to property on East Silverbell Place, in the 200 block of Blackhawk Trail and in the 100 block of East Carson Circle in Battlement Mesa. There is no suspect information at this time.Criminal mischief: Officers received a report that a vehicle had been vandalized while it was parked in the 300 block of East Fifth Street on Feb. 8 at 8:54 a.m.Warrant arrest: Officers located Cody Robert Mjolsness, 24, of Rifle, near Walmart, 1000 Airport Road, on Feb. 8 at 4:16 p.m. He was known to have an active warrant, was arrested and later posted bond from Rifle Police Department. Warrant arrest: On Feb. 8 at 2:46 p.m., while investigating a separate matter, officers contacted Sergio Esteban Ramirez, 25, of Rifle, who had two active warrants. He was arrested and taken to jail.DUI: Officers contacted Brian Patrick Flynn, 42, of Silt, for alleged traffic violations on Feb. 8 at 11:58 p.m. in the 1200 block of Railroad Avenue. Flynn was arrested for suspicion of DUI, weaving, expired temporary tag and prohibited use of a weapon.DUI: A deputy contacted a vehicle in the 1200 block of Main Street in Silt for a traffic violation on Feb. 9 at 1:51 a.m. After investigation, Jeremy Dillon Poulain, 19, of Rifle, was arrested on suspicion of DUI, underage consumption of alcohol and several traffic offenses. He was taken to jail.Warrant arrest: Deputies stopped a vehicle for speeding on County Road 221 outside Rifle on Feb. 9 at 1:18 p.m. The driver, Benito Cardenas Reyes, 56, of Grand Junction, was found to have a warrant. He was arrested and taken to jail.Assault: On Feb. 9 at 2:49 a.m., officers took a report of an assault and theft that took place in the 300 block of Railroad Avenue and are investigating. Harassment: Police are investigating a report of harassment that occurred between occupants of two vehicles on I-70 on Feb. 9 at 10:54 p.m.Minor in possession: Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 1400 block of Railroad Avenue on Feb. 9 at 11:51 p.m. A passenger, Ruben Chavez, 19, of Rifle, was issued a summons for minor in possession of alcohol.DUI: Deputies contacted a vehicle for a traffic infraction in the 700 block of Taughenbaugh Boulevard in Rifle on Feb. 10 at 2:14 a.m. After investigation, the driver, Steve Leon Read, 45, of Rifle, was arrested on suspicion of DUI and was taken to jail.
