ADVENTURE: CMU Outdoor Program hosts 'Radical Reels'

Dry out your mountaineering boots, give your skis a night's rest, take off your hat and strap yourself to the seat, because Radical Reels is back in town. The Colorado Mesa Outdoor Program is set to host its seventh annual Banff Mountain Film Festival in the state-of-the-art Colorado Mesa University Center Ballroom, with two large screens and an adrenaline-pumping sound system. Whether you are an experienced mountaineer, skier, snowboarder, kayaker or an armchair adventurer, this event is for everyone. Each November, the world's best mountain films draw an international audience to the town of Banff, Canada, with more than 300 films submitted from 30 countries. The best films from each year's festival go on a world tour. The Radical Reels Tour focuses on dynamic, high-adrenaline films featuring sports such as skiing, climbing, kayaking, BASE jumping, snowboarding, and mountain biking. Eleven films, ranging from three minutes to 28 minutes, will feature a wide variety of stories, from kayaking in the whitewater grand prix and freeride mountain biking to rock climbing the world's first 5.15c climb and downhill longboarding on the crazy downhill slopes of Majorca, Spain, each celebrating the spirit of adventure and the mountain environment. Get advanced tickets at the CMU Outdoor Program, located across from the admissions office or call the Outdoor Program at 970-248-1428 to reserve a seat by credit card. Tickets are also available at the door. All proceeds help the CMU Outdoor Program, dedicated to connecting students to mountain environments and culture, local and abroad.
