Editor's note: The Glenwood Springs Police Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.
Speeding, underage drinking, driving under the influence: At 2:50 a.m. on Feb. 9, Luis Miguel Rodriguez-Rodriguez, 18, of Glenwood Springs, was arrested for speeding, underage drinking and suspicion of driving under the influence in the 1800 block of Grand Avenue.
Driving under the influence: At 2 a.m. on Feb. 10, police arrested Jorge Gonzalez-Torres, 29, of Glenwood Springs, at Sixth and Laurel streets on suspicion of driving under the influence, driving with excessive alcohol content and a broken tail light.
Assault, criminal mischief, domestic violence: At 8:02 p.m. on Feb. 10, police were dispatched to a residence in the 600 block of Cowdin Drive in regards to a motor vehicle theft, which was later determined to be unfounded. However, during this investigation, police were informed of a domestic assault that had taken place. A known suspect had assaulted a woman, who sustained minor injuries. The suspect had also damaged the victim's cellular phone. A warrant was obtained for Robert Daniel Kitchens, 29, of Glenwood Springs, who was later located and lodged at the Garfield County Jail on the warrant for domestic violence, third degree assault and criminal mischief.
False reporting: At 12:28 a.m. on Feb. 11, police were advised of three suspicious calls involving an intoxicated man. The officers determined that the claims were unsubstantiated on all three calls. The man had been warned on the second call not to make a false report and he continued with a third call. Police arrested Philip Allen Plantz, 33, of Glenwood Springs, charged him with false reporting to authorities and lodged him at the Garfield County Jail.
Harassment, extortion: At 12:50 p.m. on Feb. 13, a man came into the Glenwood Springs Police Department to report receiving harassing communications from a former employee. Police warned the suspect to stop contacting the victim, but the harassing communications continued. An arrest warrant was issued for Mark Richard Whittington, 50, of Glenwood Springs, for criminal extortion and harassment. He was later arrested and jailed on the active arrest warrant.
Warrant arrest: At 7:39 p.m. on Feb. 12, police were advised of a man with an active warrant at a homeless shelter in the 1000 block of Grand Avenue. Police contacted the man and determined that he had an active warrant out of Garfield County for failure to appear on the original charge of trespassing. Douglas Louis Molinari, 46, of New Castle, was arrested and lodged at the Garfield County Jail for the active warrant.
Marijuana possession, underage drinking: At 2:52 a.m. on Feb. 13, police were advised of a complaint at a hotel in the 100 block of W. Sixth Street. Police arrived at the scene and determined the subjects possessed alcohol and marijuana. A juvenile male subject and a juvenile female subject were charged with possession of marijuana and underage drinking. Another juvenile female subject was charged with possession of marijuana. The juvenile subjects were issued summonses and released for the charges. Nathaniel Alexander Herman, 18, of Glenwood Springs, was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, underage drinking and possession of marijuana and was lodged at the Garfield County Jail.
Driving under the influence: At 11:59 p.m. on Feb. 14, police stopped a vehicle for speeding. Phillip Laroy Kurth, 43, of Glenwood Springs, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding.
