Editor's note: The Garfield County Sheriff's Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.
Improper turn signal: At 8:16 p.m. on Feb. 18, deputies performed a traffic stop on Main Street in Silt, and arrested Miguel Angel Reynoso, 37, of Carbondale, on charges of making an improper signal, driving on a suspended or revoked license, and suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
No valid registration: At 12:19 a.m. on Feb. 19, deputies stopped a vehicle at 124 W. Sixth St. in Glenwood Springs for not displaying a current registration sticker. They subsequently arrested and jailed Michael K. Baker, 31, of Palisade, on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license is under restraint, driving with vision obstructed, failure to show proof of insurance, and possession of illegal drugs. Also arrested and jailed was the passenger, Carri Lynn Jacobs, 32, of Clifton, on a warrant for failing to appear in court.
Child abuse: At 1:11 p.m. on Feb. 20, deputies responded to a call regarding a disturbance outside New Castle. After investigating, police arrested and jailed Maira Velez, 18, of New Castle, on charges of false imprisonment, harassment and child abuse.
Identity theft: At 12:33 p.m. on Feb. 22, deputies responded to a case of identity theft in the Parachute area. No suspects were apprehended, and the case is under investigation.
Wild cat: At 7:21 a.m. on Feb. 23, animal control transported a calico colored, feral cat to the Colorado Animal Rescue shelter.
Weaving on pot: At 2:58 a.m. on Feb. 23, deputies stopped a vehicle for weaving on West Battlement Mesa Parkway. After investigating, the issued a ticket to Nathaniel J. Gouker, 20, of Parachute, on charges of weaving, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of 2 ounces or less of pot.
Drunken driving: At 2:05 a.m. on Feb. 23, deputies stopped a vehicle on Catherine Store Road (County Road 100) outside Carbondale. After investigating, they arrested and jailed Mayra Gabriela Ramirez-Viezca, 28, of Carbondale, on charges of speeding, driving with excessive blood-alcohol content, having an open alcoholic beverage in the vehicle and suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Assault: At 11:54 p.m. on Feb. 23, deputies responded to a domestic-disturbance call outside of Parachute. After investigating, they arrested and jailed Karina Morales-Sanchez, 26, of Parachute, on charges of harassment, third degree assault and suspicion of domestic violence. Also arrested was Karina Morales Sanchez, 30, of Washington state, on a charge of third degree assault.
