The Citizen Telegram received two of the highest awards for newspapers of its circulation class at the Feb. 21-23 annual Colorado Press Association convention in Denver.
Along with 26 total awards for outstanding advertising, design and news coverage were the General Excellence and Advertising Sweepstakes awards. Both were for the total quality of work over the contest period, Sept. 1, 2011, to Aug. 31, 2012.
The Telegram won 19 individual advertising awards, including four first places, nine second places and six third places.
Five editorial awards included three first places, one second place and one third place. The paper also placed first and second in design categories.
The Telegram competed in the class 2 circulation category (1,001 to 2,000) with 22 other weekly newspapers, such as the Eagle Valley Enterprise, Littleton Independent, Clear Creek Courant, Ouray County Plaindealer, Brush News-Tribune and the Silverton Standard and The Miner.
All entries in this year's statewide contest were judged by members of the Kansas Press Association.
