Garfield County Sheriff's Department Cop Shop Report - Feb.28, 2013

Felony criminal mischief: Sometime during the night on Jan. 24 and the early morning hours of Jan. 25, someone caused approximately $6,000 in damage to vehicles in the Battlement Mesa and Parachute area. The vandals slashed the tires of 46 vehicles.

Crime Stoppers of Garfield County and the Parachute Police Department are searching for any information that will lead to the arrest and/or indictment of a suspect or suspects involved in this case.

Harassment: Deputies responded to a disturbance on County Road 335 outside New Castle on Feb. 20 at 1:11 p.m. After investigation, Maira Velez, 18, of New Castle was arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment, harassment and child abuse. She was taken to jail.

Restraining order violation: Deputies conducted a traffic stop on County Road 244 outside Rifle on Feb. 21 at 12:44 a.m. After investigation, Monica Lee Vetter, 31, of Rifle, was arrested on suspicion of a restraining order violation and taken to jail.

Harassment: Deputies responded to domestic dispute on County Road 332 outside Rifle on Feb. 21 at 11:36 a.m. After investigation, Melissa Thompson, 38, of Rifle, was arrested on suspicion of harassment and was taken to jail.

ID theft: Deputies responded to a report of identity theft in the Parachute area on Feb. 22 at 12:33 p.m. The case will remain open and under investigation.

Trespass: Deputies responded to a report of a trespass on Mineral Springs Circle in Battlement Mesa on Feb. 22 at 6:41 a.m. The case is inactive pending further leads.

Trespass: Deputies responded to a trespass on Silverton Circle in Battlement Mesa on Feb. 22 at 12:58 p.m. The case is inactive pending further leads.

Burglary: On Feb. 22 at 5:36 p.m., deputies responded to a reported burglary on U.S. Highway 6 east of Rifle. The case is inactive pending further leads.

Pot possession: Deputies stopped a vehicle on West Battlement Parkway and Valley View Drive in Battlement Mesa on Feb. 23 at 2:58 a.m. for a traffic violation. After investigation, the driver, Nathaniel James Gouker, 20, of Parachute, was released on a summons for possession of less than 2 ounces of suspected marijuana by a minor, possession of drug paraphernalia and failing to drive in a single lane.

Assault: Deputies responded to a call for a disturbance on Emerald Lane in Battlement Mesa on Feb. 23 at 11:54 p.m. After investigation, Karina Morales Sanchez, 26, was arrested for suspicion of harassment, domestic violence and was issued a summons for third degree assault. She was taken to jail. Maria Evelia Mcdonald, 30, was issued a summons for third degree assault.

Harassment: On Feb. 24 at 7:43 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a possible harassment in the Battlement Mesa area. The incident is currently under investigation.

Burglary: Deputies responded to a report of a burglary in the Battlement Mesa area on Feb. 25 at 7:04 p.m. The case remains open and under investigation.

Warrant arrest: Deputies conducted a traffic stop at West 24th Street and Colorado Highway 13 outside Rifle on Feb. 25 at 9:42 p.m. The driver, Tia Marie House, 33, of Rifle, was arrested on a warrant and traffic offenses. She was taken to jail.

Traffic stop abandoned: Deputies attempted to contact a vehicle at milemarker 95 on I-70 outside Silt on Feb. 26 at 6:42 p.m. for a minor traffic violation. The vehicle slowed, but failed to stop for the deputies. After following the vehicle and attempting to stop it for several minutes, the deputies ceased their efforts. This case is closed.
