GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado - Today, Monday, March 4, is the last day for qualified Glenwood Springs residents to register to vote in the April 2 mail-ballot election.
Voter registration can be done at the Garfield County Clerk's Office in the courthouse building, 109 Eighth Street, Suite 200; at the local Division of Motor Vehicles office in the Glenwood Springs Mall; or on the Colorado Secretary of State's website [https://www.sos.state.co.us/voter-classic/secuRegVoterIntro.do].
City voters will decide one contested race for an at-large city council seat, between first-term incumbent Stephen Bershenyi and challenger Lyle Beattie.
Also on the April 2 ballot will be a question seeking voter permission for the city to sell a piece of property in the 700 block of Colorado Avenue.
City officials plan to negotiate with Garfield County to acquire the parcel, which is currently used for downtown parking, and which adjoins parking lots already owned by Garfield County. The county plans to eventually build a multi-level parking garage at the site.
The first day for mail ballots to be sent to registered city voters is March 11. The election will be conducted by mail ballot only, and there will be no polling places on election day.
