Child abuse: On Feb. 13 at 5:32 p.m., officers took a report of child neglect in which two young children were allegedly left outdoors, unsupervised, and not properly dressed for the elements in the area of East Fifth Street and Clarkson Avenue. The case is under investigation.False report: On Feb. 14 at 10:52 a.m., police received a report of possible plan of violence to take place at Rifle High School. After investigation, it was determined the information had no merit. Curfew: On Feb. 15 at 1:56 a.m., officers contacted two juvenile boys, both age 16 and from Rifle, in the 100 block of East 26th Street for curfew violations. The parents of the juveniles were contacted and both juveniles were issued a summons.Trespass: Police responded to a possible burglary in progress at 1801 W.Second St. on Feb. 15 at 2:36 a.m. Erin Irene Lewis, 32, of Rifle, was allegedly intoxicated when she entered a residence and refused to leave. The homeowners stated they have never seen Lewis before. She was arrested on suspicion of criminal trespass.Bar fight: Officers responded to a fight at a bar in the 300 block of Railroad Avenue on Feb. 15 at 9:12 p.m. It was learned that a man had allegedly been bitten several times. Joe David Scott, 30, of Texas, was arrested and taken to jail on suspicion of second degree assault, disorderly conduct, obstructing government operations and bias-motivated crimes. Warrant arrest: On Feb. 16 at 2:17 p.m., officers contacted Bradley Joe Duffy, 45, of Silt, in the 900 block of Railroad Avenue, who was known to have an active warrant. Duffy was arrested and taken to jail.Dog bite: Officers responded to a dog bite in the 800 block of East 17th Street on Feb. 16 at 12:20 a.m. in which a child was bitten. Connie Booth Wall, 43, of Rifle, was issued a summons for having a vicious animal. Criminal mischief: Officers took a report of criminal mischief in the 1200 block of Fir Avenue on Feb. 16 at 1:40 p.m. in which a vehicle's window was broken. DUI: Police contacted Ruben Jaramillo, 24, of New Castle, in connection with a traffic/noise complaint in the 700 block of West 24th Street on Feb. 16 at 7:44 p.m. Jaramillo was arrested on suspicion of DUI, open container, careless driving and driving under revocation. DUI: Officers responded to Colorado Highway 13 and White River Avenue for a traffic accident on Feb. 16 at 10 p.m. and spoke with Abraham Mark Sabartinelli, 50, of Rifle. Sabartinelli was charged with DUI, careless driving and lack of compulsory insurance. Burglary: Police responded to the 1600 block of Dogwood Drive on Feb. 17 at 10:08 p.m. in reference to a burglary that occurred between Dec. 31, 2012, and Feb. 17. Items were stolen or damaged inside and outside the residence.Theft: On Feb. 17 at 10:14 p.m., police responded to the 100 block of East Third Street for a report of trespass and theft in which items were stolen from within a parked, unlocked vehicle. Theft: On Feb. 18 at 9:26 a.m., police received a report that while parked in the 1000 block of Airport Road, a tailgate was stolen from a pickup. Pot possession: On Feb. 18 at 6:12 p.m., officers responded to a complaint of juveniles smoking marijuana at a residence in the 2600 block of Acacia Avenue. A 15-year-old boy from Rifle was charged with possession of marijuana and released to his parents.Trespass: Officers responded to the 500 block of Park Avenue on Feb. 19 at 2:22 a.m. for a reported trespass and theft from a vehicle. On Feb. 22, officers located a 16-year-old suspect and arrested him on suspicion of theft, first degree criminal trespass, obstructing a peace officer and illegal possession or consumption of alcohol by a minor.Theft: Officers took a report of a stolen iPod from a student at Rifle High School on Feb. 19 at 1:03 p.m.Theft: Police are investigating several incidents of criminal trespass and theft in the 400 block of Lind Avenue. Items were reported stolen from unlocked vehicles on Feb. 20 at 8:03 p.m.Burglary: Police responded to the 2400 block of West Avenue on Feb. 20 at 8:37 a.m. for a report of a burglary of a residence and items stolen. The case is under investigation. Warrant arrest: While investigating a separate matter, officers contacted Bradley Allan Wilczek, 30, of Rifle, in the 2500 block of West Avenue on Feb. 20 at 2:28 p.m. Wilczek was known to have multiple warrants, and he was arrested and taken to jail.Warrant arrest: Officers saw Joshua Kevin Brooks, 25, of Rifle, operating a vehicle in the 100 block of West 24th Street on Feb. 20 at 3:49 p.m. and knew he had an active warrant. Brooks was arrested and released on bond.Theft: On Feb. 21 at 7:09 a.m., police received a report of a trespass in which items were stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 300 block of Will Avenue. Warrant arrest: Richard Owen Truitt, 30, of Rifle, was arrested on a warrant in the area of West 24th Street and West 24th Place on Feb. 21 at 7:23 a.m. and was taken to jail.Assault on officer: While investigating an incident on Feb. 22 at 1:35 a.m. in the area of Prefontaine Avenue and West Fifth Street, officers contacted a 16-year-old Rifle boy who was a suspect in an earlier theft and trespass of a vehicle. The juvenile allegedly assaulted the officer. He was arrested on suspicion of assault, theft, trespass and minor in possession of alcohol and was taken to a youth detention facility.Minor in possession: Officers contacted a juvenile in the 400 block of Will Avenue on Feb. 22 at 1:35 a.m. The 17-year-old Silt boy was later released to parents and issued a summons for minor in possession of alcohol and curfew violation. Criminal mischief: On Feb. 22 at 12:21 p.m., officers took a report that a vehicle parked in the 2500 block of Fairview Heights Court was vandalized.DUI: After witnessing unsafe driving actions, officers attempted to pull a vehicle over on Feb. 23 at 1:55 a.m. The driver traveled a distance before pulling over, then attempted to flee on foot. Following a foot pursuit, Bryon Logue, 22, of Great Falls, Mont., was arrested and taken to jail on suspicion of DUI, driving under revocation, careless driving and obstructing a peace officer. Domestic violence: Officers responded to the 700 block of Taughenbaugh Boulevard on Feb. 23 at 2:16 a.m. for a report of domestic violence. Following investigation, Israel Lopez-Hernandez, 24, of Phoenix, Ariz., was arrested and taken to jail on suspicion of criminal mischief, assault and domestic violence. DUI: Officers contacted Duane Howard Cerise, 53, of Rifle, in the 2400 block of West 24th Place on Feb. 23 at 8:57 p.m. after responding to a call of a disturbance. Cerise was arrested on suspicion of DUI and DUI per se and taken to jail.Vandalism: Police were called to investigate vandalism to a vehicle at Walmart, 1000 Airport Road, on Feb. 23 at 9:14 p.m. The case is under investigation.Dog licensing: Officers contacted Brandon James Turner, 28, of Rifle, after a report of a dog bite in the 700 block of East Third Street on Feb. 24 at 12:34 a.m. Turner was given a summons for failure to provide proof of vaccinations and city license tags for the dog.Dog bite: Police were notified of a dog bite that occurred near the Rifle Animal Shelter on Feb. 24 at 4:12 p.m. The dog is housed at the shelter and was being walked by volunteers. It was placed in quarantine. Domestic violence: Officers responded to a report of domestic violence in the 700 block of Elder Court on Feb. 24 at 11:37 p.m. Following investigation, Benjamin Strauss, 33, of Rifle, was arrested and taken to jail on suspicion of assault and domestic violence.Gas skip: On Feb. 26 at 1:04 p.m., police responded to the 1200 block of Railroad Avenue for a report of fuel theft. Police were unable to locate the suspect vehicle. Shoplifting: Police responded to Walmart, 1000 Airport Road, for a report of shoplifting on Feb. 26 at 3:17 p.m. Richard Owen Truitt, 32, of Rifle, was arrested on suspicion of theft and was taken to jail.Gas skip: Police responded to the 100 block of East First Street on Feb. 26 at 4:11 p.m. for a report of fuel theft. The case is under investigation.Warrant arrest: Deputies responded to a citizen assist on Horizon Circle in Battlement Mesa on Feb. 27 at 6:36 p.m. and found Bryan Lee Dunihoo, 38, of Nephi, Utah, had an active arrest warrant. He was arrested and taken to jail.Criminal mischief: Deputies responded to a criminal mischief call on County Road 244 outside Rifle on Feb. 28 at 1:30 p.m. The case remains closed/inactive pending further leads.Trespass: Deputies learned of a criminal trespass in the 400 block of Tamarisk Trail in Battlement Mesa on Feb. 28 at 7:01 p.m. At this time, there are no suspects and the case is closed.Sex offense: On Feb. 28 at 3:41 p.m., deputies learned of an alleged sex offense in the Battlement Mesa area. A juvenile male was issued a summons and released to his parent. The case is currently open and under investigation. No further information will be released at this time.Driving under restraint: Deputies conducted a traffic stop East Avenue and E. Fifth Street on March 2 at 2:31 a.m. The driver, Shannon Jay Bascom, 41, of Rifle, was arrested on suspicion of driving while his license was under restraint. He was taken to jail.Dog at large: Animal control responded to a report of a dog at large in the 100 block of Silver Queen Circle in Battlement Mesa on March 3 at 8:53 a.m. After investigation, the dog's owner, Richard Frederick Wille, 64, was located and issued a summons.Warrant arrest: Deputies contacted Jacob Eli Rodriguez, 20, in the Cottonwood Springs Mobile Home Park, 27653 U.S. Highway 6, east of Rifle on March 4 at 7:29 a.m. After investigation, Rodriguez was arrested on an active warrant and taken to jail.
