Anyone interested in becoming a ski patroller at Sunlight Mountain Resort can meet and ski with the Sunlight Volunteer Ski Patrol from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. March 30 or March 31. Pick the day that works best. Meet at the first aid clinic next to the lodge in the morning. A liability release waiver must be signed before getting started. Lift tickets will be provided for participants who don't have a Sunlight Mountain pass.

After meeting many of the ski patrollers in the morning, the qualifications, duties and responsibilities of the job will be discussed. There will be plenty of time to get out on the mountain with this group of volunteers. The day will include an evaluation of participants' skiing skills. Intermediate or higher skiing ability is required. Bring a brown bag lunch or grab something at the lodge.

Garfield County Libraries is making a special place for kids in the new Carbondale Branch Library. The new children's area will feature an original art piece with community members' treasures embedded in it. To participate in the project, donate favorite pocket treasures or other small and slender items to the Gordon Cooper Branch Library by April 1, and then come check them out when the new library opens in July. Every Sunday morning beginning April 7, the Yoga Space, 309 14th St. in Glenwood Springs, offers deeksha from 5:30-6:45 p.m. Participation is by donation. For information, call Sandy at 379-0471 or Cher at 404-1560 after 6 p.m.

Physical therapist Karen Church will give multi-media presentations on hip and knee pain where attendees can learn simple anatomy of common injuries and effective strategies that heal. Digital images by will enhance visual learning and inspiration for optimal health. Presentations are from 4-5:15 p.m. Tuesdays, April 2 (hip) and April 23 (knee) at the Cooper Room of the Hotel Denver, Cost is $10 per session. Colorado Parks and Wildlife is offering a class on hunter education and safety in Rifle from from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 23 and 24 at the Garfield County Fairgrounds. Registration is required. Call 970-947-2920. There is a $10 fee.
