What Gives?

• Rifle High School's baseball team needed only eight base hits during its 18-0 triumph over Grand Valley on Tuesday. Teig Hauer went 2-for-2 with a double, three RBIs and three runs scored and Danny Bartels hit a three-run homer and had four RBIs during the victory.

• Rocio Roman had the best day of any Grand Valley High School track and field athlete during last Saturday's Rifle Invitational. The senior finished second in the 800 meters in 2 minutes, 37.91 seconds, and won the 300 hurdles in 48.90 seconds.

• Rifle's girls track team took a 1-2-3 finish in the discus. Joey Kuheim earned a convincing win with a throw of 130 feet, 9 inches, and was followed by Brittany Neuroth (109-4) and Abby Orgill (108-5).

What's the plan?

After Saturday's high school sports events, both Grand Valley and Rifle will be off for a week for spring break. They'll resume their season schedules on March 23.
