Eight local basketball players were given all-league recognition when the Class 4A all-Western Slope League teams were announced recently.

Four of those players received first-team recognition. Rifle junior Chante Church, the Bears' leading scorer, was named to the first team along with teammate and Rifle senior Joey Kuheim. For Glenwood Springs, senior Kenzie Nelson-Buehler, along with junior Delaney Gaddis, were among the 12 players named to the first team.

The other four earned an honorable mention. Rifle seniors Taylor Walters and Jasmine Figueira, along with Glenwood junior Laura McDermott and sophomore Madi Spence, each earned honorable-mention recognition.

Both the Glenwood and Rifle girls advanced in the 4A state tournament, with the Bears reaching the bracket's round of 16.

Delta, the regular-season league champion, had the league's coach of the year in Matt Hamm and its player of the year in Skylyn Webb.
