"Sunset Trail," a musical comedy spoof by Tim Kelly, will be staged this weekend by Grand Junction's venerable Senior Theatre troupe.Set in fictitious Lizard Gulch, Ariz., "Sunset Trail" is about a secluded actress, Norma Desperate, who is trying to reclaim the glory of her younger years. She unwittingly becomes the victim of a transient couple, Sly Vester and his partner in crime, Delilah Desdemona Dilly. Another unscrupulous bandit, Billy the Goat, shows up to claim his share of the ill-gotten gains. Sheriff Johnny Straightshooter restores law and order. In doing so, he captures the heart of the lovely schoolmarm, Amy Sweet, during her brief stay en route to a teaching job in Monterrey, Calif.Two evening performances will be staged at Grand Junction High School Friday and Saturday, March 22-23, at 7:30 p.m. A matinee is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, March 23. "This senior show will be so strong, that everyone will forget it is a senior show. It is going to be a really great musical," said director Rachel Fortner."Sunset Trail" will be the 18th production staged by the Grand Junction Senior Theatre.
