Juanita Mae Donegan Latson

Juanita Mae Donegan Latson passed peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 29th, 2013, in Vancouver, WA, where she had residence since May 2010.

She was born on Feb. 7, 1928, to Alvin Charles Donegan and Mildred Lida French Donegan in Glenwood Springs, Colorado.

Juanita always had a song in her heart and with her beautiful voice, she blessed those around her at church, weddings, funerals and community concerts.

She graduated from Glenwood Springs High School in 1946. She married Franklin Edgar Latson, Jr., shortly after his return from World War II on January 18, 1948, in Glenwood Springs. Juanita's days were spent caring for their 5 children, numerous animals, abundant gardens, and sharing her love of music and art with all she encountered. In the summer of 1976, Juanita and Frank with their youngest son, Ernie, accompanied her parents, Charlie and Mildred Donegan to Port Angeles, WA, on the beautiful, green Olympic Peninsula.

Once settled, Juanita again enjoyed her love of the Lord, music, animals, and her family. One of her greatest accomplishments musically was successfully coordinating and directing the Aspen Music Festival for one year shortly before moving to Port Angeles, WA. She also performed as a guest soloist with the Port Angeles Symphony on one occasion. She taught piano and accordion for several years until her retirement.

Juanita was preceded in death by her loving parents, brothers Lester John and Ernest Lyle Donegan, and her devoted husband of 52 years, Frank.

She is survived by her favorite and only sister, Grace Marie Donegan Harris Louthan of West Jordan, UT; and five children: Dr. Ed Latson (Susan) of Buffalo, NY; Martie Latson Howell (Bill) of Niagara Falls, NY; Larry Latson (Mary) of Port Angeles, WA; Lorrie Latson Hume (Steve) of Vancouver, WA; and Ernie Latson (Kandi) of Port Angeles, WA. Juanita also took great pride in her 13 grandchildren and her 8 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held in Port Angeles, WA in June. For more details contact Ernie and Kandi Latson at 360-452-3035.
