Volleyball, fishing derby and soccer in New Castle

Adult challenge volleyball league

An adult challenge volleyball league will be held Tuesday evenings, beginning April 2. Registration is individual and teams will be formed randomly each week and compete in a variety of formats that may include doubles, triples, quads and sixes play.

Each individual will receive points based on their weekly results and the top point earners will receive special awards at the end of the league. Registration fees are $20 for the six-week league, or $5 per player at the door.

Fishing derby

New Castle Cub Scout Pack #221 will host a free fishing derby for children ages 3-15 on Saturday, April 6, at Grand River Park.

Sponsored by Mr. T's Hardware, in conjunction with Colorado Parks and Wildlife, it will be held from 1-4 p.m. A limited number of fishing poles will be provided and awards will be given for each age group.

Preregistration by Friday, April 5, is required, and can be done online at newcastlecolorado.org/recreation, by phone at 984-3352, or in person at Mr. T's Hardware or the New Castle Community Center, 423 W. Main St.

Adult coed soccer league

An adult coed 8 vs. 8 soccer league will play on Sunday afternoons, beginning April 14. League play is scheduled through early June, and coed rules require that at least three women be on the field at all times.

League fees are $350 per team, or $45 per person and registration is available by phone at 984-3352, online, or in person at the New Castle Community Center, 423 W. Main St. The deadline to register is Friday, April 5.
