Longtime valley resident Lena Halford passed away at her home in Rifle at the age of 90.
She was born in Glenwood Springs to Joe and Louise Bianco, and lived in the valley her entire life. She was a lifetime member of the ladies auxiliary of the VFW and the Eagles Club 215. She enjoyed sewing, playing cards, gardening and helping anyone who needed it.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Delbert Cerise; husbands, Ben Cerise and Basil Halford; brothers, Mike and Dan Bianco; and sister, Adelle Duffy.
She is survived by her son, Roy (Diane) Cerise; grandchildren, Delbert Cerise, Ragina (Jason) Shoup, Jessica (Richy) Lynn; great-grandchildren, Shelby and Nicholas Cerise, Dakota and Colton Shoup, and Ila Lynn; and sister-in-law, Stella Bianco.
Lena cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her last words of wisdom were, "Be kind, be caring and believe in God."
Services will be held Friday, March 29, at 10 a.m. at Rifle Funeral Home. A luncheon is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. at the Silt Community Center. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Rosebud Cemetery in Glenwood Springs.

Donald Walter Larson, 74, of Silt Mesa, passed away March 14, 2013, at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction.
Mr. Larson was a hay farmer on the Silt Mesa for the past 22 years.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte; sons, Jon of Maybell, and Rod of Nucla; daughter, Julie (Paul) Larson-Martinez of Grand Junction; stepson, Pat (Brenda) Flick of Pine; and stepdaughter, Pam (Jim) of McGaugh of Westminster; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.
