Garfield County Sheriff's Office Cop Shop Report - March 28, 2013

Domestic: Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance on Little Echo Drive in Battlement Mesa on March 19 at 2:21 a.m. After investigation, Carrie Ann Kalaher, 41, was arrested on suspicion of third degree assault, criminal mischief and false reporting to authorities and was taken to jail.

Fraud: On March 20 at 4:40 p.m., deputies took a report of a fraud in the New Castle area. The case is under investigation.

Criminal mischief: Deputies responded to a criminal mischief report on Tamarisk Trail in Battlement Mesa on March 20 at 12:41 a.m. The case is closed pending further leads.

Traffic offenses: Deputies stopped a vehicle on County Road 346 outside Rifle on March 20 at 6:29 p.m. for a traffic violation. After investigation, the driver, Michael T. Stordahl, 37, of Glenwood Springs, was released on summons for speeding and having expired license tags.

Harassment: Deputies were advised of a domestic disturbance on County Road 335 outside New Castle on March 21 at 11:49 p.m. After investigation, Josie Lee Vazquez, 30, of New Castle, was arrested on suspicion of harassment and was taken to jail.

Fraud: Deputies learned of a possible fraud in the Silt area on March 22 at 12:39 p.m. The case is under investigation.

Sexual assault: On March 22 at 2:51 p.m., deputies took a report of a sex assault outside Rifle. The case is under investigation.

Dog at large: Animal control learned of a dog at large near Blackhawk Trail and West Carson Circle in Battlement Mesa on March 22 at 9:35 a.m. The owner, Julia Mae Stuckman, 66, of Parachute, was issued a summons for a dog at large and not having the dog licensed.

Warrant arrest: Deputies arrested Nicasio Castillo, Jr., 21, of Rifle, in the 200 block of West 20th Street in Rifle on March 22 at 6:27 p.m. on a misdemeanor warrant. He was taken to jail.

DWAI: A deputy made a traffic stop near West Battlement Parkway and Willow Creek Trail on March 23 at 2:14 a.m. After investigation, the driver, Jorge E. De Leon Maldonado, 27, of Parachute, was arrested on suspicion of violation of a restraining order, speeding and driving while his ability was impaired. He was taken to jail.

Sexual assault: On March 24 at 1:10 a.m., deputies took a report of a sex assault outside Parachute and arrested Shawn Martin Angell, 43, of Parachute, on suspicion of first degree sexual assault, first-degree burglary, child abuse, second degree kidnapping, third degree assault, first degree criminal trespass and tampering with evidence. He was taken to jail.
