Library News: Biking season is almost here

Is your bike in the garage collecting dust? Does repairing your bike sound intimidating? The Glenwood Springs Branch Library is hosting local bike enthusiast, Dan Mickelson, who will present on the basics of repairing and maintaining bikes on Saturday, April 6 at 1 p.m.

Dan's presentation will cover fixing a flat, lubricating your bike, replacing a worn out tire, and more. And, the library is raffling off two $20 certificates to a local bike shop to help with the more advanced repairs so that you can get back to riding your bike. This is a free program. Space is limited, so sign up early by calling 945-5958 or stopping by the library at 413 Ninth Street.

The St. Mary's Bloodmobile will be at the libraries for a special blood drive. One donation can help as many as four people, and the St. Mary's Regional Blood Center supplies blood to all hospitals on the Western Slope. It's safe, fast, and the easiest way to save a life. On Monday, April 15, the St. Mary's Bloodmobile will be at the Parachute Branch Library from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and at the Silt Branch Library from 3 to 5 p.m. On Friday, April 26, the St. Mary's Bloodmobile will be at the Gordon Cooper Branch Library in Carbondale from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Call the library to register to reserve a time slot or just drop in.

Starting in April, the Gordon Cooper Branch Library in Carbondale will hold its Bilingual Storytime on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. Parents and their children ages one to five are invited to enjoy bilingual books, stories, and songs with Alejandra.

Please join us in celebrating the 1st Anniversary of the reopening of the New Castle Branch Library. Come celebrate and enjoy cake and punch on Saturday, April 13 from 12 to 2 p.m. Call 984-2346 for more info.
