The Glenwood Springs Art Guild invites the public to attend a free demonstration at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 9 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1630 Grand Ave. Gail Price presents her videos on pencil and color. The general meeting follows at 8 p.m. Call 404-1208 for more information.
Hospice of the Valley presents a class on how to make Remembrance Bears. One of the bereavement services Hospice offers family members is to have a Remembrance Bear made in memory of their loved one. A special article of clothing is chosen by the patient or family member and given to one of our "Bear Maker" volunteers. The volunteer then lovingly creates a bear using that special pair of PJs, blanket, shirt or pants.
A free class is being offered at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, at the Glenwood Springs Sewing Center (822 Grand Ave., Glenwood Springs). Sharon Andersen, a Hospice of the Valley Bear maker and volunteer, will be teaching the class. Limit is 12 people so sign up early. Participants do not need to be expert seamstresses, but knowledge of sewing machine use and cutting and marking fabric is necessary (bear pattern and an article of clothing will be provided).
Call Wendy Steckler, volunteer coordinator with Hospice of the Valley, at 970-279-5503. Preregistration is required.
