The Coal Ridge High School Booster Club will host the Titan Trot 5k run/walk at 9 a.m. May 4.

The race will start at Cactus Valley Elementary in Silt. Proceeds will benefit Coal Ridge High School athletics. Cost is $25 for pre-race registration and $30 on race day.

The first running of Roaring Fork Runoff 5K run/walk will be held at 9 a.m. April 20 at Two Rivers Park.

The 5K benefit run will benefit the two local nonprofit organizations: Western Colorado Girls on the Run and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). The course begins at Two Rivers Park, runs along the Roaring Fork River bike path and loops back to the park.

Registration is $20 and begins at 7:30 a.m. the day of the race. Times and prizes will be provided for all participants.

A charity run to benefit the middle schools in Parachute and Battlement Mesa will be held April 20.

The Move It, Move It Family 5K Fun Run will be held at 10 a.m. at Grand Valley Middle School. The run is open to all ages, and race fees will go toward funding supplies for the Center of Family Learning movement program.

A race shirt is guaranteed for all registrations which are received by today. Pre-race registration is $15, and race-day registration - which begins at 9:15 a.m. - is $20. Pre-registered teams of four will be $40. All participants will receive an award.

Glenwood Springs High School will hold cheerleading tryouts for its 2013-14 cheer team on Wednesday and Thursday.

The tryout Wednesday will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and will go over material needed for the final tryout, which will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday. All female eighth-graders through juniors in high school who will attend Glenwood Springs High School next year are welcome to try out.

The Rifle Creek's Men's Club, which plays at Rifle Creek Golf Course, is now accepting members for its 2013 Thursday Night Men's Club. It is two-man team play. Play is 5:30 p.m. Thursdays. League play starts May 2.

The fifth-annual Emily Johnson Play it Forward 3-on-3 Soccer Tournament will take place June 7 to 9 and Gates Soccer Park on Colorado Mountain College's Spring Valley campus in south Glenwood Springs.

Proceeds from the tournament support three scholarships given to high school seniors in the name of Emily Johnson, a Coal Ridge High School student who was killed in an ATV accident in 2008.

Play begins at 8 a.m. June 8 and continues through June 9 for the U8 through U18 age groups. All-Star exhibition games featuring all-league award winners in the Class 3A and 4A Western Slope Leagues will beheld on June 7. The boys game will be played at 5 p.m. June 7, with the girls game following at 7 p.m.

Cost per team is $150 or $25 per player. The fee includes a three-game guarantee, a tournament goody bag and a tournament T-shirt.
