Chow Down expands again to Fruita

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Fruita pets (and owners), rejoice!Chow Down Pet Supplies recently opened yet another location on Aspen Avenue, offering high-quality pet supplies (food, toys and treats), plus grooming services. It's located right next to Domino's Pizza at 225 E. Aspen Ave."A lot of customers were driving to the Redlands location from Fruita," manager Kristi Bush said, so it simply made sense to expand Chow Down's reach to the small town west of Grand Junction.Other locations owned by the Chow Down family on the West Slope include the Redlands location (2518 Broadway) and a new store in Montrose (202 Main St.).While services and products remain mostly the same across Chow Down stores throughout the region, Bush said the Fruita store will do one thing a little differently."We will carry small animal products," Bush said, including bird food, rabbit food, gerbil and hamster food, plus fish food and basic aquatic products. The self-dog wash will likely open at the Fruita location in May, she added, and there's a dog trainer on staff.Chow Down in the Redlands currently features a cozy cat room, where homeless felines rescued by C.L.A.W.S. (Cats League and Assistance of the Western Slope) live until they find forever homes. Fruita's location will not have a cat room, however, Bush said kitties in need will live at the store and be rotated in as space opens up. "Twinky the cat needs a home," Bush noted.Fruita Chow Down's store hours run seven days a week, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday/Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.For more information, visit or call the Fruita Chow Down at 970-858-7700.
