The New Castle Recreation Department will host a girls fastpitch softball clinic and camp in early May.
Clinics, which will focus on the basic fundamentals of fastpitch softball, will be held at 8 a.m. May 3 for ages 8 to 12, and 8 a.m. May 4 for ages 13 to 15. Clinics will be at Elk Creek Elementary School, and participants will receive beverages, prizes and a DVD. Cost is $40 per player.
Camps will begin on May 13 and will include include instruction on basic softball skills. The camps will feature a AAA pitching coach when they end on Friday. Registration deadline is May 3, and camp cost is $65.

Rifle Parks and Recreation is seeking umpires adult softball and youth baseball and softball programs for the upcoming summer season.
The season will run from May to mid-August. Applicants must be at least 14 years old. Pay is $15 to $25 per game DOQ. Job descriptions and employment applications can be found online at www.rifleco.org/employment.

The Big Bats for Lil' Bats adult coed softball tournament, held by the New Castle Recreation Department, will take place May 5.
The tournament is a fundraiser for the New Castle youth softball and baseball programs. Games will be played at Elk Creek Elementary School starting at 9 a.m. May 5. Registration is $200 per team, with a registration deadline set for April 26.
The New Castle Recreation Department will host a vintage base ball tournament as part of the town's 125th anniversary celebration June 15 at VIX Ranch Park.
The tournament will be played using the base ball rules and equipment from the late 19th century. Individual registration is being accepted, and teams will be formed following a rules clinic to be held on May 19. Participants receive a uniform top and cap to replicate the ones worn by the New Castle Blues team, which played teams from around the region.
Registration is $40 and includes a uniform top, ball cap, rules clinic and practices along with lunch, snacks and beverages during the tournament.

The fifth annual Emily Johnson Play it Forward 3-on-3 Soccer Tournament will take place June 7-9 at Gates Soccer Park on Colorado Mountain College's Spring Valley campus in south Glenwood Springs.
Proceeds from the tournament support three scholarships given to high school seniors in the name of Emily Johnson, a Coal Ridge High School student who was killed in an ATV accident in 2008.
Play begins at 8 a.m. June 8 and continues through June 9 for the U8 through U18 age groups. All-Star exhibition games featuring all-league award winners in the Class 3A and 4A Western Slope Leagues will beheld on June 7. The boys game will be played at 5 p.m. June 7, with the girls game following at 7 p.m.
Cost per team is $150 or $25 per player. The fee includes a three-game guarantee, a tournament goody bag and a tournament T-shirt.
The Coal Ridge High School Booster Club will host the Titan Trot 5K run/walk at 9 a.m. May 4.
The race will start at Cactus Valley Elementary in Silt. Proceeds will benefit Coal Ridge High School athletics. Cost is $25 for prerace registration and $30 on race day.
