The Glenwood Springs Post Independent was created by the merger of the historic Glenwood Post and the upstart Glenwood Independent in November of 2000. The newspaper covers all aspects of the community in the mountains and Garfield County — a region larger than the state of Rhode Island. There are six municipalities in the county: Glenwood Springs, Carbondale, New Castle, Silt, Rifle and Parachute/Battlement Mesa.
