LIFT-UP will hold its annual meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, at Alpine Bank’s conference room, located at 2200 Grand Ave. in Glenwood Springs. The first board meeting of each year is open to the public, and people are invited to attend to find out how LIFT-UP is serving the community, ask questions and share insights with the board of directors and management.
LIFT-UP is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing humanitarian assistance in the communities it serves, with seven area food pantries from Parachute to Aspen, thrift stores in Rifle and Parachute, and The Extended Table, which serves evening meals in Glenwood Springs and Rifle. Founded in 1982, LIFT-UP is now in its 32nd year of operation, and is made possible through generous support from the local community.
In 2013, LIFT-UP served 48,961 people (9,583 families) one or more times, and distributed 52,654 bags of food. The Extended Table served 16,109 meals, and 2,103 families received USDA commodities through the food pantries. More than 19,000 hours were given by volunteers to deliver LIFT-UP’s services to the community.
