New Castle seats remain uncontested

NEW CASTLE — No affidavits of intent to run as a write-in candidate were filed by the Friday deadline in the town’s municipal election on April 8, so there are officially a mayor and three council seats open with one mayor and three council candidates seeking the positions.

Under Colorado state law, the town cannot announce any cancellation of the election until March 21, according to Mindy Andis, deputy town clerk.

Mayor Frank Breslin is not seeking to renew his term as mayor, but is seeking a spot as a town trustee. Trustee Bob Gordon is seeking the mayor’s seat. Art Riddle and Bruce Leland are seeking positions as town councilors.

The town has no ballot questions.
