More Grand Ave. bridge design input meetings planned
Grand Avenue Bridge project officials have scheduled a second round of meetings with two project groups on April 9 and 10 to discuss architectural, landscaping and urban design features for the main Highway 82 bridge and the related pedestrian bridge.
The first meeting will be with the specially appointed design issues task force to work on specific design details. That will be followed by a stakeholder meeting from 1:30-4 p.m. on April 10 at the Glenwood Springs Community Center.
The April 10 meeting will have a workshop format where design team representatives will lead discussions, rather than an open house format, according to a Colorado Department of Transportation news release.
Topics will include the layout for the planned elevator and stair access to the pedestrian bridge from Seventh Street, the area under the Grand Avenue bridge, specific bridge design options, treatments at the Interstate 70 interchange area, and the pedestrian/bicycle underpass connecting the Two Rivers Park trail to Sixth Street.
The project team will present design revisions made based on input at the initial meetings on March 13 and 14, and again at a Glenwood Springs City Council workshop on April 3. The project team will then work to complete the design details.

Alpine Bank supports book drive
GLENWOOD SPRINGS — Throughout April, all Alpine Bank locations will accept donations of new and gently used children’s books, appropriate for ages from birth through 8 years old, in support of the Colorado Business Reads book drive. All donated books will be distributed to local kids in May through doctor’s offices, schools, libraries and child care centers.
