After a six month dry spell, liquor sales will return to Carbondale’s Main Street on June 27.
Mary’s Main Street Spirits will be run by Mary Bos, who promises to deliver “convenient shopping for the Spirits of Carbondale.” Bos is well known in town as a longtime resident and former member of the Chamber of Commerce, and has more than a decade of liquor sales experience in the valley.
“I’m getting a lot of support and love,” said Bos. “Everyone is excited that it’s reopening.”
The former Main Street Spirits shut down in December, and Bos made an offer on the downtown location at 389 Main St. in April. Employment applications are available at the shop, where Bos is busy making improvements and preparing for launch. Renovations uncovered a beautiful 110-year-old hardwood floor, which was previously disguised by six layers of carpet and linoleum. Bos also intends to petition the town to allow a drive through window on the east side of the building, and already has the adjacent landowner on board.
Folks who drop in the weekend of the 27th will also receive a voucher for 10 percent for the grand opening the weekend of July 4. The store will also hold swag giveaways and plans to offer dated beer at 25 cents an ounce and 25 percent off wine. Bos leans toward local products and will provide a request form for more obscure tastes.
“Whatever people want I’ll try to get in,” she said.
