Grand Junction cops shoot and kill suspect

GRAND JUNCTION — Grand Junction Police are releasing few details about an officer-involved shooting Monday afternoon.

The shooting happened after officers were called to remove a person who was outside a home. KKCO-TV reported that the shooting happened after an officer made contact with a person in a vehicle.

Police have not named the victim or the officers involved. The Grand Junction Sentinel reported that officers recovered a gun from the scene and that witnesses reported several shots fired. The suspect died at the scene.

Police said the two officers involved are on paid leave.
