A man found drowned on May 10 near Loma in Mesa County has been identified as Janitzio De Filipe Diaz-Panigua.

The 37-year-old had recently moved from Glenwood Springs to Grand Junction, Mesa County Chief Deputy Coroner Victor Yahn said in a news release.

Yahn said Diaz-Panigua drowned accidentally.

The Mesa County sheriff’s office sought public assistance earlier this month in identifying Diaz-Panigua. A cell phone had been recovered with the body, and this image, thought to be a selfie, was on the phone.

Among the identifying marks on his body was a tattoo with the man’s name: Janitzio.
