You can help make Colorado healthier

Staff Report

Healthier Colorado will come to Glenwood Springs Aug. 24 to meet with community members in order to learn how to improve means of living a healthy life in Colorado, statewide and locally, as well as to get residents together to share their thoughts and ideas.

Healthier Colorado is a nonprofit organization with a mission to “ensure the voices of Coloradans are heard by public officials on issues concerning health.” The organization’s mission statement explains that every Coloradan should have “access to the basic elements of healthy living, including nutritious food, physical activity, disease management tools and affordable, high-quality health-care coverage.”

A community talk hosted by Healthier Colorado will take place at 6 p.m. Aug. 24 at the Glenwood Community Center in the Sopris C Room.

Everyone is encouraged to attend, in hopes of gathering information about local health opportunities. Anyone with ideas that would help to improve or make living a healthy lifestyle in the valley easy, are welcome to share the ideas with other members of the community.

Ideas ranging from budgeting for nutritious food products to finding a doctor are needed to improve healthy living in the Roaring Fork Valley, and make Colorado the healthiest state. Seats are limited, so those interested are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible. To participate, please RSVP at healthiercolorado.org/ or contact Hillary Jorgensen at hjorgensen@healthiercolorado.org for more information.
