More than $4 million in member equity distributed to Holy Cross members

Holy Cross Energy’s board of directors recently declared a member equity distribution refund of more than $4 million to members who purchased electricity from Holy Cross Energy in 1999 and 2000.

Approximately 32,200 current and former members should receive their member equity refund checks by mid-December. Refunds less than $10 will be posted as a credit on upcoming member electric statements.

Membership with Holy Cross Energy entitles all members to share in its success. Distribution of member equity is a unique and important part of the cooperative philosophy. As a not-for-profit entity, Holy Cross’s mission includes providing electric service at a reasonable cost and returning profits or “margins” remaining after operation expenses back to its members.

Holy Cross Energy is a rural electric distribution cooperative organized in 1939, providing electric energy to more than 55,500 services in Eagle, Garfield, Pitkin, and portions of Gunnison and Mesa counties.

Wes Cole is new general manager of Ironbridge Grill

Wes Cole has recently joined Ironbridge Golf Club as general manager of the Ironbridge Grill. The restaurant offers casual American cuisine to the public year-round and opened in the spring 2014.

Cole comes to Ironbridge with a vast amount of culinary expertise, having served in management roles with Aspen Ski Co. and Up the Creek Bar and Grill in Vail. As a manager with Elk Camp Restaurant in Snowmass and Element 47 at the Little Nell in Aspen, he cultivated an extensive and unique beverage menu, while also leading a strong team of restaurant personnel that was charged with working in a very customer-focused, fast-paced environment.

In the months to come, Cole will be creating, developing and introducing new events, such as wine dinners and Scotch tastings that will be available both to members of the Ironbridge Golf Club, as well as the general dining public. The first special event under Cole’s direction will take place on Dec. 31, as the Ironbridge Grill offers an all-inclusive New Year’s Eve Party, with dinner, drinks, music and dancing ($90 for Ironbridge Club Members/$110 for the general public).

Prior to entering the restaurant and culinary industry, Cole worked in sales, marketing and recruiting in his hometown of Atlanta, Georgia. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia and spent a year in Spain during a study abroad program, where he was able to perfect his command of the Spanish language.

Roaring Fork Liquors donates all gross profits on Black Friday to LIFT-UP for fifth year in a row

For the fifth year in a row, an established holiday tradition developed by Roaring Fork Liquors raises money for LIFT-UP.

Roaring Fork Liquors owner Ken Robinson donates all gross profits from Black Friday sales to the nonprofit food bank. This year’s total comes to $3,000. We here at LIFT-UP would like to thank Ken, his staff and customers for another successful event.

With offices and food pantries in Aspen, Basalt, Carbondale, Glenwood Springs, New Castle, Rifle and Parachute, LIFT-UP has been serving the region’s needs since 1982, and has been able to serve our neighbors in need with the generous support of our caring community.

“Here at Roaring Fork Liquors we like to help the community as much as we can,” said Ken as he presented the donation to LIFT-UP’s Executive Director, Kimberly Loving. “In supporting LIFT-UP we are helping feed our neighbors in need.”

Donations of this kind to LIFT-UP show the community’s involvement and the reach of such donations to a great number of people from each town along our Valley from Aspen to Parachute.

From January – October 2015, LIFT-UP assisted clients with 29,810 clients. 27,386 sacks of groceries have been provided. We prepared Holiday food Baskets for around 900 families in our area for Thanksgiving and will serve that many again for Christmas.

LIFT-UP needs help year-round, through financial donations or volunteerism. Please call our office at 970-625-4496 or go to liftup.org to find out more.
