East section of Glenwood Canyon bike path opens

The eastern section of the Glenwood Canyon bike path between the trailhead near Dotsero and Hanging Lake was expected to open this weekend, according to Colorado Department of Transportation spokeswoman Tracy Trulove.

CDOT previously opened the western portion of the trail from Glenwood Springs to the Shoshone rest area and boat launch. However, the section between Shoshone and Hanging Lake remains closed due to damage from the Feb. 15 rockslide that closed Interstate 70 for several days.

Repair work continues on the path as well as the highway, which is still limited to one lane in each direction. That work will continue throughout April and is expected to be completed by the first week of May.
